  • Package Review: All shipments entering Turkey may be reviewed by Customs to verify content, declared value and compliance with regulations. In postal or courier shipments, the operator (mail/express company) usually manages the dispatch process under the applicable procedures.
  • Tariffs and Taxes: In Turkey, international shipments are subject to taxation and customs control. Since 2026, the rules for low-value purchases/shipments have been tightened: in practice, shipments by mail or courier may be subject to tax even when the value is low. For non-commercial shipments to individuals, it is common for a fixed tax/rate to apply depending on the origin (for example, different if it comes from the EU or from outside the EU), and certain products may have additional taxes.
  • Payment of Duties: Normally the recipient pays the charges before delivery. The postal or courier operator may charge a management fee for dispatch and processing.
  • Additional Documentation: Some products may require extra permits or documentation (for example, medications, food, cosmetics or regulated merchandise).
  • Release Procedures: Once the documentation has been validated and payment has been made (if applicable), the shipment is released and continues with the delivery.
