  • Estimated Deadlines:
    • Delivery times vary depending on the carrier and the service selected.
    • On average, shipments from Europe to Germany take between 5 to 10 days
  • Shipping Options:
    • Standard delivery: Economical but with longer delivery times.
    • Delivery with stopover: Combination of couriers with stopover at a warehouse in the network so that you save as much as possible, with longer delivery times.
    • Express delivery: More expensive but guarantees longer deliveries fast.
  • Shipping Insurance:
    • Basic insurance included. In case of incidents, €6.67/kg domestic and €10/kg international will be covered.

Restrictions and Regulations

Prohibited Items: There are certain items that cannot be shipped to Germany under any circumstances. These include:

  • Illegal drugs and controlled substances: Narcotics and prohibited substances.
  • Arms and ammunition: Firearms, ammunition, explosives and weapons considered prohibited or “offensive” (including certain knives).
  • Hazardous materials: Explosives, flammables, gases, corrosives, toxics and dangerous chemicals.
  • Illegal or obscene material: Content considered illegal or obscene under German regulations.
  • Protected fauna and flora: Protected species, their parts or derivatives (and products subject to CITES) without permits.

Restricted Items: These items can be shipped to Germany, but require permits, documentation or meeting specific conditions:

  • Foods of animal origin (meat and dairy) from non-EU countries: They are usually very restricted and can be withheld.
  • Medicines: May require a prescription and/or receipt (and additional controls depending on the type).
  • Alcohol, tobacco and coffee: They may be subject to special taxes in addition to import taxes.
  • Regulated products (chemicals, “dual use”, etc.): Depending on the case, they may require licenses or review additional.

Customs procedures

  • Package Review: All packages entering Germany may be reviewed by Zoll (German Customs) to verify content, declared value and compliance with import regulations.
  • Tariffs and Taxes: For shipments from outside the EU, the usual is:
  • Import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer): usually 19%, or 7% for certain goods (e.g. some food and books).

  • Tariff (Zoll): Until now, in many cases it is not applied if the value of the goods does not exceed 150 EUR (this is about the value of the goods, not including shipping).

  • Relevant change in 2026: it is planned that from July 1, 2026 the rules for low-value e-commerce shipments change and a charge/duty may apply even if the value is less than 150 EUR.

  • Gifts (gifts): If it is a real gift between individuals, there may be a tax-free allowance up to 45 EUR (with conditions). If it exceeds that value, taxes may apply.
  • Payment of Duties: Normally paid by the recipient before delivery. In many cases, the operator (Deutsche Post/DHL or another courier) manages the dispatch and may charge a handling fee in addition to taxes.
  • Additional Documentation: Some products require extra documentation (for example, food, medicines, CITES fauna/flora or regulated products).
  • Release Procedures: Once the documents are presented and the charges (if applicable) are paid, the package is released and its delivery continues.
  • Package Tracking: It is tracked with the carrier's tracking number. If it enters customs it may appear as “in clearance”, “pending payment” or “pending information”.
  • Possible Delays: They usually occur if documentation is missing, the description is vague, the value does not add up or the item requires special control.
