    • Protected Fauna and Flora: Live animals, plants, seeds and endangered species without permits from the Ministry of Agriculture and/or CITES.

    Restricted Items: These items can be shipped to Cuba, but require special permits or must comply with certain regulations:

    • Medicines: They require a medical prescription and, in some cases, an import permit issued by the MINSAP (Ministry of Public Health).

    • Food and Beverages: Are subject to health inspection; meats, dairy products and fresh products have greater restrictions.

    • Cosmetics and Hygiene Products: They must comply with health regulations of the Ministry of Health.

    • Cultural Materials: Ancient books, art, historical or archaeological documents require special authorization from the General Customs of the Republic (AGR) and the Ministry of Culture.

    • Accurate Description: The shipper must detail the items in the package, including quantities, brand and type of product.

    • Declared Value: The actual value of the merchandise must be declared. Declaring a lower value may result in fines and withholding, while declaring a higher value may increase taxes and duties. You decide the declared value of your goods.

Customs procedures

  • Package Review: All packages entering Cuba are reviewed by the General Customs of the Republic (AGR) to guarantee compliance with local import regulations.

    Tariffs and Taxes:

    • Shipping to Cuba is processed as a personal import according to the official table of the General Customs of the Republic: up to 500 USD in value and 20 kg per shipment, with the first 3 kg exempt and 30% on the rest (payable in Cuban pesos).     • For higher values or shipments that exceed the permitted weight, import tariffs apply depending on the type of product and the declared value.

    Packages from the European Union and other countries: Cuba does not apply agreements such as DR-CAFTA. However, it maintains bilateral agreements with certain countries. In general, shipments from the EU, US or other origins are subject to the same customs procedures, with tariffs and taxes depending on the product category.

    Payment of Tariffs: The recipient in Cuba is responsible for paying the corresponding tariffs and taxes in local currency. Payment must be made directly at the post office or authorized customs before the package is released.
