Yes, always. Since July 2026 clearance is run by Samoa's new Ministry of Customs, with case-by-case valuation and physical examination of contents: without a clear invoice, customs estimates the value and clearance drags. Declare the real purchase value: obvious undervaluation means retention and penalties that cost more than the tax. We prepare the declaration for you from your invoice.
Natural products need quarantine permits; medicines a prescription. Samoan physical valuation makes a clear invoice doubly important. If the permit never arrives, or the item is outright prohibited, it gets seized. That is why it pays to ask us BEFORE buying any regulated product: we will tell you which paper it needs and how to get it.
No de minimis: taxed from the first tala. Simple duty rates (most goods at 5%, 8% or 20%, with clothing at a flat 20%) plus the 15% VAGST computed in cascade. Example: a €200 clothing order pays ~€40 duty + ~€36 VAGST: ~38% total. The courier may add a small clearance handling fee. Our quoting tool shows the real total before you buy.

Don\'t panic: most holds are about paperwork, not violations. The courier notifies you of the reason; it is almost always solved by providing the purchase invoice, the prescription or the missing permit. Write to us with your tracking number and we will manage the case with you until release.
Every shipment includes a tracking number. Follow it on the carrier\'s site or straight from your MDE dashboard, stage by stage: departure from our warehouse, transit, customs clearance and delivery in Samoa.
For normal purchases, just the invoice or receipt with the real value: we prepare the rest of the export paperwork and the declaration. Invoice with real value — essential: without it the new Ministry of Customs values by estimate and you lose days.
Yes, declared at real value, but with no tax perk: Samoa has no gift allowance: they pay duty + VAGST like any shipment. For gifts, 5%-duty categories (not clothing) fare better.
Samoa's value added tax (Value Added Goods and Services Tax), at 15%, applying to most imported goods. It is settled at clearance, in Samoan currency.
