Have you made an online purchase abroad, are you about to, or are you waiting to receive a gift? Here is a step-by-step guide to using the Door-to-Door service of Correo Argentino with the help of MDE.
- Register on the Correo Argentino International Shipments Portal.
- Create a "Purchase Notice".
- Receive the notification when your shipment arrives in the country.
- Complete the content declaration and payment process.
- If your shipment requires customs inspection, request Representation, or book an appointment to be attended to (subject to an authorized branch).
- Receive the parcel at your home address.
1. Register on the Correo Argentino International Shipments Portal
Go to https://epago.correoargentino.com.ar , select the "I'm new, I want to register" option and fill in the requested details. After entering your details and clicking "Register", you will receive an email to activate your account, so that you can then log in with your username and password. It is important not to share this information, as it is personal and non-transferable. To be able to register you must be a natural person and you must have:- A CUIL or CDI number, and a national or foreigner's DNI issued by RENAPER. The DNI has the "Procedure Number" printed on it, which consists of eleven digits and is one of the details you will need to fill in.
- Passport Number: EXCLUSIVELY for foreigners; when they do NOT have a DNI, they may register with their passport number. In these cases, shipments must be collected in person at the branch with customs control that will be indicated to you.
2. Create a "Purchase Notice"
If you have the tracking code that the seller used to send the shipment, you can enter it on the International Shipments Portal, and thus create a Purchase Notice. This way, we can notify you about the arrival of your shipment faster and by email, instead of having to send you a telegram. When your shipment arrives in the country, we will let you know that you can now complete the process on the Portal to receive it. Creating the "Purchase Notice" makes the process of managing and receiving international shipments easier and faster. Tracking Code The site or the seller where you made the purchase provides it to you. You can find the code by going to the My Orders or My Purchases section on the site where you made the purchase. Do not confuse the Order Number with the tracking code. Types of Tracking Codes- Registered Shipments: have tracking throughout their entire journey. They begin with the letters R, C or E (For example: RM123456789CN) and are made up of two letters, nine numbers and two letters at the end.
- Simple Shipments: have limited tracking or no tracking. They may begin with the letters U or L (For example: UF123456789HK; LJ123456789US)
3. Receive the notification that your shipment has arrived in the country
Correo Argentino will send you a notification informing you that the shipment has arrived in the country:- Electronically (email) if you generated a "Purchase Notice" with the tracking code of origin, or
- Physically (telegram) if you did not generate a "Purchase Notice".
- It contains the Origin tracking code and/or the associated National tracking code, which is the one you will have to use to manage your shipment.
- It tells you the deadline you have to complete the process before your shipment is returned to the country of origin.
- In the event that you have to collect the shipment at a branch with customs control, you must present this notification.
- If you have the tracking code provided by the sales site, you can access the Portal to complete the process.
- If you do not have the tracking code, we recommend contacting the seller.
- It is advisable to check with the sender of the shipment, or the Marketplace in the case of a purchase, since if you do not have the information about the merchandise, you must go in person to the Branch with Customs to open the shipment, find out the contents and then complete the declaration (see next step).
4- Complete the content declaration and payment process
Once Correo Argentino notifies you that the shipment has arrived in the country, log in to the Portal with your username and enter the tracking code. Complete the declaration and pay the corresponding amounts (Postal Processing Fee and Customs Duty if applicable). How is it done?
- Go to https://epago.correoargentino.com.ar with your username
- Step 1 - Enter the tracking code of your shipment
- Step 2 - Enter the details of the contents of your shipment:
- Category
- Subcategory
- Description
- Quantity
- Unit value in USD
- Enter the shipping cost if applicable. When your shipment is "Free shipping" you must enter a value of 0.
Remember that…
While the declaration is in progress you will be able to add new products, modify the details of those you have already entered or delete the products added; once you have submitted it you will NO longer be able to modify it.Who is going to collect the shipment at the branch with customs control?
In the event that your shipment has been classified to be collected with customs control at a branch, you can request representation by the Post, authorize a third party to handle the process (for example, if a customs broker is required), or book an appointment to go yourself, if the branch is enabled for it.- Representation by the Post: the in-person process before Customs is carried out by the Post. If no observations arise from that inspection, the shipment will be released for home delivery. In the event that any observation arises from Customs, you will receive an email with the corresponding instructions.
- Authorize a third party: you must indicate who will go to the branch with Customs to collect the shipment; the system will request the CUIL/CUIT/CDI number of the authorized person. This data will be saved and cannot be modified.
- Step 3 - Pay (the Import Duties and the Postal Processing Fee)
- On screen you will see the amount payable for your shipment according to what you declared and your available quota and allowance.
- The amount on which the Import Duties are calculated is the value of the merchandise plus the shipping cost.
What am I about to pay?
- Import Duties
- For the first 12 shipments:
- If the value of your shipment does not exceed USD 50, no payment is due.
- If the value of your shipment exceeds USD 50, you will pay 50% on the amount in excess of that value.
- For the first 12 shipments:
- When you exceed 12 shipments in the year: you will pay 50% of the value of your shipment.
- Postal Fee: a fixed amount in all cases.
How do I make the payment?
You can make the payment through these channels:- With a savings account or bank checking account, through home banking.
- With a VISA credit card.
You will receive an email to inform you that your payment has been confirmed.
If the shipment is a gift...
Gifts are not exempt from the payment of taxes or customs duties, so you will have to complete the declaration and pay the corresponding amount. To do this, you will have to calculate the approximate value of the gift.5- Receive the shipment
