What you'll pay at Argentine customs (updated July 2026)
The Decree 604/2026, in force since 17 July 2026, changed the rules and improved them considerably. There is now a single regime for Correo Argentino and for private couriers:
- USD 400 FOB allowance per shipment, exempt from import duties and the statistics fee.
- Up to 5 shipments per person per year.
- Cap of USD 3,000 and 50 kg per shipment.
- Above the allowance the flat 50% rate was removed: the excess is now taxed under the general regime (21% VAT plus any duties that apply to the goods).
Until 16 July, anyone receiving through Correo Argentino had just USD 50 of allowance per shipment. Now they have 400: eight times more. Together with the removal of the PAÍS tax in December 2024 and the end of the currency controls, bringing car parts from Europe has not been this convenient in years.
