A new baby is on the way in the family, and the one thing that can't be missing or fail is the baby stroller that will let you carry your little one through their first four years of life. It's a very tough decision to make, and if inexperience is already a limiting factor, not being able to access items of European origin and quality makes things even more complicated. But don't worry, because at MDE we're going to show you how to buy your baby stroller in Europe and forward it to your home, anywhere in the world: easy, safe and fast!
As with any other product, buying a baby stroller online has its pros and cons. First, the options keep growing, especially considering that we now have access to new models beyond the big brands that monopolize, limit and drive up the price of the baby stroller market.
The keys to choosing the best stroller for your baby
We advise you to follow these points in this order and rule out strollers one by one until you find the one that's most suitable for your family.
Single or not. Twins, a single baby, triplets, a newborn plus a little brother or sister… There are models for every need. Think about the future while you're at it; you can save a significant amount of money in the long run.
Dimensions. Does it fit through the door of where you live? You won't enjoy having to take the baby out and fold it every time you enter and leave the house. I know someone this happened to with a twin stroller, and they had to buy another one. Another issue is whether it fits in the car's trunk. If you look online, they usually list the stroller's dimensions when folded.
Carrycot and car seat (group 0) or not. There are the typical three-in-one strollers with a carrycot, a baby seat that works for the car, and a pushchair for when the child is older. They tend to be expensive, but you'll get limited use out of them. For the car, it's better to buy a rear-facing seat from zero months to four years (much safer than forward-facing). The ones that come with the stroller usually only work up to about nine months. The alternatives for the stroller itself are two:
Pushchairs with a special backrest that reclines fully flat, suitable from newborn until they're older (some up to 25 kg).
Pushchairs that come with an adaptable carrycot without having to buy everything (it's sold separately, but the price makes up for it).
Locking brake on the wheels. Essential. I assume they all come with it. Imagine having to leave the stroller for a minute (to run after another little one, for example, or to open a door…) without being able to lock the brake.
A good harness, usually five-point. I haven't seen any with just a belt, but if you do, rule it out. In fact, I don't even think it would meet the quality standard.
Nice-to-haves. The most important and decisive things are already covered, but there are other features of your future pushchair that will make your life easier:
A large canopy. Those little parasols are very cute but not very practical; with a bit of wind they twist or break. Besides, the canopy protects against wind and sudden light rain.
Rain cover. Many include one, so you avoid having to buy it. Always ask whether it's included and work out whether the stroller that comes with it is worth it or whether you're better off buying it separately (which can be the case).
A spacious storage basket. You can't imagine how useful it'll be, from leaving your jacket on a hot day to doing the shopping and a thousand other things.
Easy to fold and compact when folded. Especially if you travel a lot by car. The carrycot is large, and if the chassis is large too, your trunk might come up short, just a heads-up.
Adjustable handle. Measuring 1.55 metres is not the same as measuring 1.85 metres. Being able to adjust the handle is an incredible convenience.
