What is the simplified regime and what does it allow?
The simplified import regime (popularly known as Puerta a Puerta, or Door to Door) is a system that allows Argentine citizens to receive packages from abroad without needing a customs broker or complex procedures. There are two main routes:
1. Correo Argentino – official Door to Door

Allowance: USD 400 exempt from import duties per shipment (Decree 604/2026).

Maximum quantity: 5 shipments per year per person, each up to USD 3,000 FOB and up to 3 units of the same kind, for personal use (ARCA General Resolution 5884/2026).

Taxation: up to USD 400 no import duties or statistics fee are paid (VAT is still due); if the value or the shipment quota is exceeded, the excess is taxed under the general regime (21% VAT plus any applicable duties).

Processing: Through the AFIP/ARCA portal by the recipient.
2. Private courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc.)

Allowance per shipment: USD 400 (up to 5 shipments per year).

Limit per shipment: USD 3,000 and up to 50 kg.

Taxation: no import duties up to USD 400; VAT (21%) is paid on the value of the shipment, and the amount above USD 400 also pays duties.
What changed in 2024 and 2026?

The courier allowance per shipment was raised to USD 400, allowing more margin free of import duties per shipment. In July 2026, Decree 604/2026 applied the same USD 400 allowance and the same cap of 5 shipments per year to postal mail.

The total limit allowed per shipment was raised to USD 3,000 (previously USD 1,000).

The inspection system was made more flexible: now more than 30% of packages go through simplified channels, which speeds up deliveries and reduces operating costs.
