eBay does operate in Mexico, but the problem is not eBay: it's the sellers. A huge part of the European catalogue (especially Spanish, German and British) is listed by sellers who only ship within their own country or within Europe. When you filter by "ships to Mexico", that catalogue disappears from your search.
That is where a European address changes things: you become just another European buyer and the whole catalogue you couldn't see before opens up.
What to buy on eBay Europe that you can't get in Mexico
Based on what passes through our warehouse, the most common items are collectibles (figures, comics, cards, records), European car parts, discontinued electronics and second-hand branded clothing. Things that either don't reach Mexico or arrive with a hefty markup. Some concrete examples:
- Collectibles: European manga and comics, Pokémon and Magic cards, vinyl, figures and discontinued sets.
- Electronics and photography: phones, DSLR cameras, lenses and retro consoles that are no longer made.
- Spare parts: European car parts (VW, Renault, Peugeot) and components hard to find in Mexico.
- Fashion: branded clothing and sneakers, new and second-hand, at European clearance prices.

What you'll pay at Mexican customs
Mexico applies a de minimis allowance of USD 50: below that value your parcel pays no tax. Above it, 16% VAT applies plus any duties that correspond.
Something worth knowing: since 15 August 2025 the global parcel rate rose from 19% to 33.5% for countries without a trade agreement with Mexico, such as China. Europe does have an agreement (the EU-Mexico FTA), so buying European is usually much cheaper on taxes than buying Asian.
A typical case: from Madrid to Guadalajara
Say you win an auction for a DSLR camera from a Madrid seller who "only ships within Spain", plus a couple of lenses from another seller in Barcelona. Neither ships to Mexico. With your European address both sellers ship to our warehouse with no problem; there we consolidate the camera and lenses into a single box and send it to Guadalajara with the cheapest carrier. One shipment, tracked and with the invoice checked.

Frequently asked questions
Does eBay Spain ship to Mexico?
eBay operates in Mexico, but many European sellers only ship within Europe. With a European address you access that full catalogue.
Can I pay on eBay with a Mexican card?
Yes, payment is usually not the problem. The barrier is the seller's shipping, not the payment method.
How much tax do I pay when bringing an eBay purchase to Mexico?
There is a USD 50 allowance; above it, 16% VAT applies plus the corresponding duties. Buying in Europe benefits from the EU-Mexico FTA.
Can I combine several eBay purchases into one shipment?
Yes. Consolidating is what most reduces the cost, especially with collectibles, where you buy single pieces.
What if the item arrives damaged or doesn't arrive?
When it reaches the warehouse we check and document it before forwarding, which gives you backup for any claim on eBay.
